The Coalition's Programme for Government (0.6 MB)

Hello,

I'm Iain Stewart, the Member of Parliament for Milton Keynes South. I was elected for the first time on 6th May 2010.

I am grateful to the voters in Milton Keynes South for their support and faith in me and I am deeply honoured to be entrusted with the responsibility of representing them and this great new city in Westminster.

We have tough decisions to make and much hard work to do to put the country back on its feet but I give you my pledge that I will do all I can to improve the long-term condition of Milton Keynes and Britain as a whole.

If you need to get in touch with me, please click on the "Contact Me" button at the top of this page. While most issues can be dealt with by a phone call, email or letter, I also hold regular "surgeries" across the constituency if you have a personal issue that you wish to discuss with me in person. These surgeries are by appointment only and are normally held on Friday afternoon and evenings. If you would like to book an appointment, please call my office on 01908 686830.

Thank you.

Iain shows he loves Bletchley

COURT room drama in Stainer Square and a Paris-style fashion show on the High Street – these were just two of the many delights to love about Bletchley.

Local residents, market stall holders, businesses and Town Council have been working hard to regenerate Bletchley town centre. The ‘Love Bletchley Day’ held on Saturday gave them all an opportunity to showcase the best that the town has to offer.

Iain was on hand to show his support and love for Bletchley. He visited Malins Nursery, a local florist and also had the opportunity to learn ‘rag-rugging’ from Dawn McHugh, owner of local business, Home Spun Craft.

The Age UK shop in the town used a fashion show to highlight the trendy clothes available in its store while Austin Ray, a local firm of solicitors, used a court room drama acted by students from Milton Keynes College to present its service offering.

Bletchley is a bastion of learning and students from the work skills and beauty department of Leon College joined their counterparts from Milton Keynes College to showcase the many skills and talents that is locally available to incoming businesses.

Commenting afterwards, Iain said: “I think ‘Love Bletchley Day’ is a great initiative to help regenerate the town centre. It certainly showed off in great light all the different shops, market stalls and community groups and facilities that are available.”

“I congratulate the Town Council and everyone involved in organising it and hope it’s the first of many,” he continued.

Town Council Clerk, Lisa Courtney added: “This brings back into focus the many shopping experiences available in Bletchley. It’s a reminder of the vast diversity and range of shops located here. We love Bletchley Park and our stadium, but there is more to the town than these two icons.”

The town centre is the heart of Bletchley and a bid has been submitted for it to become one of the Mary Portas Pilot towns. The bid proposes to run a night market to get the vibrancy back into the town.

Iain calls for volunters for Milton Keynes MS Society

THE Milton Keynes branch of the MS Society says it’s a piece of cake to get involved with their work.

The branch provides vital support, services and information to people with MS, their friends, families and carers - and is run entirely by volunteers. The local branch currently needs volunteers for committee and fundraising roles to assist with its day-to-day activities.

In support of this recruitment drive, catering and beauty therapy students from Milton Keynes College baked cakes and offered beauty treatments such as manicures and pedicures, to raise awareness and much needed funds for the branch.

Iain is giving the local branch his support and joined volunteers and guests at Milton Keynes College restaurant where the event was held.

Speaking afterwards, he said: “The MS Society plays a huge role in supporting sufferers and I was delighted to lend my support to their recruitment drive.”

“Volunteers are essential to the effective running of support organisations like this and I would encourage people to volunteer their time and skills for this worthwhile cause.”

MS Society Milton Keynes is looking for caring and reliable people who have a little spare time and such skills as: organising, ability to spot a fundraising opportunity, team working talents and importantly, a listening ear.
